Modest eats for brunches and lunches. Sundays are usually the busiest and during peak times there could be a wait for a table. But, the staff is efficient and we were served right away. Food is better than other chain breakfast places. They have delicious Filipino dishes and are generous portion. The longanisa is tasty and not too sweet, which I prefer. The steaks we ordered were cooked just right. This place is worth coming back to.
Been going there for about 20 yrs and have had a pleasant experience every time. You definitely get fed well for the price and they treat you like family. The waitresses and waiters are very attentive and if you like hot coffee that's a good thing.
I have no idea what has happened to this restaurant. It used to be amazing. As a long time customer from when the pantry used to be on El Camino across the way from Hillsdale in San Mateo, I have seen an immense amount of change on their style of cooking. And that doesn't mean that it's actually been better or good for that sense. I ordered with no onions and omelette a veggie omelette for me. Instead I got a lot of onions and I just don't recall anything on the plate being something that made me happy. It was in a complete opposite of multiple various times that I've been to the pantry. I usually come in with my family or my spouse. But I think I'm going to have to say that this is not going to be ever again my first choice for breakfast because as an important part of the day this food will not make me happy.
