Yummy authentic Japanese food and average service. Seating is available in a small enclosed space or in a walkway with a row of tables, where there is a lot of foot traffic. They do have good lunch specials in good portions - not too big, not too small.
Went on Wednesday night at around 7.30pm. Ordered pork belly don and buckwheat noodles with tempura. After ordering and sitting inside, we were told they were closing (advertised closing time was 8.30pm) and that we needed to sit outside in the alley.Pork belly don was small and nothing like the menu photo, but tasted nice. Buckwheat noodles were as excepted, tempura was below average, with no sauces available as they put everything away at 8pm when the food came out.I’d suggest adding more rice to the don bowels and closing at the advertised closing time.
Not too bad. A Japanese ramen-udon-ricebowl place run by Chinese. But they got the whole look right. Food was reasonably priced. We ordered curry fried chicken rice and tempura udon.Fried chicken curry rice is average. It tastes like what a normal Japanese Curry Rice should taste like. What disappointed me was the udon broth and udon. Noodles were overcooked and soggy. Broth was tasteless. Lack the umami of a dashi based stock and quite frankly, lack shoyu and other ingredients to make a good clear soup for udon. Will probably try the other ramen shop just 1 door down, run by Japanese, really soon. Will I be back? Probably... if the other shops around are closed.
