So glad we googled fish and chip shops! Gill's is a real hidden gem! And is not expensive as stated in prior post. All food is well presented so you can see what you get.
Nice and friendly staff, obviously do good work with locals with a steady flow coming through. Chips were nice and the fish although a bit greasy, need to be drained more for my liking. The other bits and pieces were quite a let down, could hardly taste the squid in amongst the batter, the scallop (ordered 2, only got 1) were just mass produced rubbish and muscle barely ok.I think if you want basic fish & chips, pretty good, but outside that meh
Now THIS... is what people of my generation loves - a dinky di little takeaway shop that is run by one person with amazing food, great prices and that whole... takeaway shop feel that seems so... lacking in the new ones.Literally the best food on The East Side.
